An excerpt from The Mash’s 2010 prom queen, Joanna Izydorczyk:
“When I heard the news that I won, everything around me felt surreal. My mom walked into the living room, where I was talking to my sister-in-law, and told me that someone on the phone wanted to speak to me. I figured it would be a college, but then I heard The Mash’s assistant editor on the other end of the line. She asked me if she could put me on speakerphone, and I said yes. When The Mash staff told me I won, I couldn’t believe it.
I gave my mom a thumbs-up sign and she automatically started jumping up and down ecstatically, and then she teared up. I was in such a daze that all I could say was “Oh, my gosh,” and “Are you serious?”
this is so sweet! I can’t believe I didn’t know about this until now! I really hope I get chosen! It would mean the world to me!
Go girls! I wish you all the best, it is so exciting! I will definitely be voting!
