Why he’s got game:
Dukan continued his strong play this year with two stellar performances last week. He first scored 28 points to go with nine rebounds and four steals in Deerfield’s 67-49 Central Suburban South win over Maine West last Thursday. The forward followed that outing two days later with a career-high 34 points and 16 rebounds in the Warriors’ 80-73 win over Mundelein Saturday night. He scored 17 of those points in the fourth quarter. Dukan, who signed with Wisconsin in November, entered this week averaging 24.5 points per game and 10 rebounds. His previous career-high came in the Wheeling Holiday Tournament, in which he was named MVP. He scored 33 points against Vernon Hills in one of the opening round games. Dukan was also named MVP of the Palatine Thanksgiving Tournament.
What do you hope to be doing in five years?
“I’d like to be playing basketball professionally. That’s my dream, whether it’s in the NBA or in Europe. My dad (Ivica) played in Europe for 15 years, in England, Switzerland and Yugoslavia, so I’m familiar with playing over there.”
Which pro athlete or celebrity would play you in a movie?
“I’d have to say Chris Tucker. I think he’s hysterical. He’d be a good pick because people think I’m a funny guy, too.”
How did you get started playing basketball?
“My dad got me a little hoop in our house when I was 3. I was bigger than the hoop, but the idea of playing basketball was something I just took to right away. I think it came naturally because of my dad. When I was 6 or 7 years old, I started playing organized basketball.”
