When I say #BlackLivesMatter that doesn’t mean that other lives don’t matter, it just means we are the ones that are in danger! This topic really touches my heart because I am African American. It feels as if these police shootings are targeted to kill young black men. It makes me feel unsafe and on edge because my father, cousins, uncles and people I am close to are BLACK.

Living in Chicago, you already have to be aware of gang shootings or being shot or stabbed because of an argument. PLENTY of innocent people have lost their lives due to gun violence. Babies, young adults and even the elderly are innocently losing their lives. This world is cruel and unjust. It feels as if the world is coming to an end, no one seems talk out their problems anymore they rely on weapons and/or result to violence.

53 years ago Martin Luther King Jr. “I Have A Dream” speech was published. 53 years later we still aren’t created EQUAL. Polices are shooting innocent not only men but women of color for NO reason. Everyone always say that it’s time for change but they don’t speak out about it. There’s too many incidents where someone dies in police custody or by policemen so I won’t focus on that but I just know something needs to happen. When the police kill these people of color they are released on PAID leave which shows they haven’t been convicted for the lives they have taken. I have a fear that one day I’m going to get a call saying one of my family members or friends is gone due to violence. I’ve lost one person to violence already and I don’t play on losing any more.

7 years ago my great- great aunt was stabbed to death on the south side of Chicago and still we have NO JUSTICE! Killings are getting out of hand especially in Chicago! It seems as police are making killing people of color a hobby , there’s  plenty of people police killed who haven’t been publicly recognized but for the ones you know I’m going to keep their name alive. I am Oscar Grant, Sandra Bland , Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Tamir Rice, Trayvon Martin, Alva Braziel, Delrawn Small and BLACK LIVES DO MATTER!
