It’s that time of year again. The bathing suits are out, the beach balls are poppin’ and the expenses are piling up again. Spring Break for high school kids is a time to relax and enjoy a nice week and a half off, before heading back to school before summer. It’s either a time to go somewhere warm and tropical, or cold and icy if you choose, with your family and friends. For most of us, stay at home and watch netflix all day is our plan. Don’t you get a little tired of the constant episodes of Shameless or Grey’s in your bed? Want to do something fun while your home? Teens in the suburbs of Chicago have the gateway access to go to the city for the day and enjoy a spring break itinerary, even if you’re only 25 minutes from home. Here’s a few of the trendiest and most “spring break esque”, places you can visit while you’re on break!

Mahalo Restaurant- Located on 1501 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60622 in Wicker Park
Speaking from first hand experience, Mahalo is one of the trendiest places in all of Chicago. Not only is the ambiance a true representation of Hawaii, but the food isn’t slacking off either. At Mahalo the servers wait on you with an attire of beach shirts and shorts, and make you feel like you’re right on the beach in Hawaii. Prices range from 10 dollars for an appetizer to 25 for a main dish, and the drink menu is to die for. You can get some of the best tropical smoothies here to truly top off the perfect experience. Oh, and don’t forget to instagram yourself here, because it’s truly a feed changer.

Lincoln Park Zoo- It’s not exactly like swimming with dolphins or sharks, but it comes close when you have prices like Lincoln Park Zoo’s! At Lincoln Park Zoo you and your friends and family can enjoy a day at the zoo in the heart of Chicago. While not only being surrounded by every animal in the book, you can be surrounded by views of the city that make for some awesome photo shoots. The only thing you’ll have to pay for is parking, and even that is optional! By taking the Metra from a local train station, you can save up to 20 dollars on parking and have all the money in the world to spend on souvenirs and yummy treats! You heard it hear, it’s the place to be!

Pickwick Roasting Co. – 22 E Jackson Blvd, Chicago, IL 60604
What’s better than a nice cup of coffee? Nothing, absolutely nothing. At Pickwick, you are offered some of the best coffee out there, hot or iced, along with an array of desserts that will make your day just right. For the coffee lovers in life, their drip coffee is one of the best! The ambiance at this place is cozy and welcoming, and after a long day it’s the perfect place to unwind. Check it out and get a pic in front of the big coffee sign to show your love for coffee is extra!

Staycations aren’t always the worst. It’s a time to relax and check out fun places in your area!
