My name is Kasiah Henderson and I am a seventh grader at Young Women’s Leadership Charter School (YWLCS). I am happy to be involved in Project Exploration’s Youth Science and Media Program (YSM). I now have a chance to learn more about science and media. I’m amazed at how much I’ve already learned. I know more about the structure of cells and I continue to grow each program session as I get more involved in editing videos and operating cameras.
What I enjoy most about this program is that we often have guest speakers, such as Mr. Kelsey Taylor, a civil engineer and president of his own company, Engaged Civil. Meeting Mr. Taylor opened my eyes a lot. I learned that there are many challenges to being president of a new company. On top of creating blue prints, Mr. Taylor is also responsible for doing things like finding clients and being the accountant for his company.
I’m excited about the YSM team’s next reporting assignment. We are now working on a project called Hidden Heroes In Science. I am a hidden hero in medical science because I want to find a cure for many diseases affecting people, both young and old. If I had the power to do this my cure would heal people instantly. Whatever their illness might be, it would be healed with this cure. I would like for more people to be able to live and enjoy life with their families. I am enjoying reporting on science and because of Project Exploration I am more interested in science.
The Project Exploration Youth Science and Media program is produced by youth media makers in collaboration with Free Spirit Media.
